A Simple Evening Ritual to Prepare for a Session

A remote acupuncture session is a passive experience. You do not need to do much. But there is a difference between rolling into a session distracted and arriving with a soft, settled body. The difference is small, the practice is short, and over time it becomes its own quiet pleasure.

This ritual takes about 20 to 30 minutes and is designed for evening Mini Sessions. Adjust the timing if your session is during the day.

Step 1: Set the room

Around 30 minutes before your session, lower the lights. If you have a lamp on a warm setting, use that instead of overhead lighting. Close curtains. Turn off the television. The goal is to signal to your nervous system that the day is ending and the next part is rest.

If you share space with others, let them know you have a 29-minute window where you would prefer not to be interrupted. A simple "I am resting from 9 to 9:30" usually does it.

Step 2: Set the body

Take a warm shower or wash your face, hands, and feet with warm water. This is a quiet practice in many traditions, and it has a real effect: warmth at the extremities helps the nervous system shift toward rest.

Change into something soft. Pyjamas, loose cotton, anything that does not constrict. If you are cold easily, have a blanket within reach.

Step 3: Set the screen

Put your phone on silent or do not disturb. If you are someone who cannot fully relax with a phone in the room, leave it in another room with the volume up enough to hear an alarm. The treatment image from Guadalupe will be there when you wake or open your eyes; you do not need to watch for it.

Step 4: Set the intention

Take 60 seconds to name your intention for the session. This is part of the Energetic CODE. You will have already shared a focus area with Guadalupe in your booking or intake, but a personal sentence held privately can deepen the experience.

Examples:

  1. "I am giving myself permission to rest tonight."
  2. "I am open to whatever this session brings."
  3. "I am letting my shoulders drop."

Write it on paper or simply say it under your breath. There is no right form.

Step 5: Settle into position

Lie down on your bed or a comfortable surface. On your back is most common. Arms at your sides or resting on your belly. If lying flat is uncomfortable, a pillow under the knees can help. You may close your eyes or keep them softly open.

You do not need to meditate. You do not need to control your breath. If thoughts come, they come. Many people drift off during the session, and that is completely fine.

Step 6: After the session

When the 29 minutes are complete, do not jump up. Take a few minutes to notice how you feel. A glass of room-temperature water is a kind gesture to your body. If it is bedtime, simply roll over and sleep.

The treatment image will arrive by phone or email. You can look at it now or in the morning. Some people find it grounding to look immediately; others prefer to discover it the next day.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Can I eat before a session?

A: A light meal earlier is fine. Avoid a heavy meal, alcohol, or excessive caffeine within the two hours before. The body settles more easily on a calm digestive system. If you forget and the session is in 20 minutes, do not stress; just notice and continue.

Q: What if I fall asleep?

A: Falling asleep is welcome and very common. Mini Sessions are often booked at bedtime for exactly this reason. The treatment continues regardless of whether you are awake, asleep, or somewhere in between. You may notice a different quality of sleep that night, or you may not. Both are fine.

Q: Do I need to stay still?

A: Comfortable is more important than still. If you need to roll over, scratch an itch, or shift a pillow, do it. The session does not require you to perform stillness. It only requires you to be available to rest.

Next step. When you are ready to try this, a Mini Session is the simplest place to start. Twenty-nine minutes, received at home, with a treatment image sent afterwards.
